TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to talk about his character in Harphoul Mohini and new twists in the show.
Fans have seen you in a lot of different roles, which one would you say is your personal favorite?
As we say, your first love is the always unforgettable. Similarly for me, my first role is my favorite. I played a grey-shade character in a movie by Mr. Ram Gopal Verma, where he directed the sequel to Satya. It was the first time I was ever in front of a camera, and that too for the big screen, so there are a lot of memories attached to that role.
What did you like about the show Harphoul Mohini and what made you say yes to it?
There were a couple of reasons, the first being this was the same team that we had for Choti Sardarni. The producers were the same, and the channel team was the same, so there is a lot of familiarities there. The second being the script, which is really nice because it’s an amalgamation of Haryanvi culture with that of the south Indian. It is an amalgamation of the north and south which made the journey really beautiful and my character excited me a lot. I have played a lot of different characters to surprise myself and the audience. My character Santok is physically challenged and the preparation for the same needs a lot of work because you are trying to embody an emotion of a body part not working and I'm wanting to do justice to that. Walking with this big bamboo stick, using that as a major support so that is definitely something new for me.
What new twists and turns can the fans expect from your character on the show?
The latest twist and turn that has happened in the show is that a Goddess, Devi Maa has entered the show. The role is played by a very sweet five-year-old child actor. I can’t really reveal a lot but think the bond between Santok and Devi Maa is going to be special and very strong.
Amal plays the role of Santok in the show Harphoul Mohini on Colors TV.
