MUMBAI: Indian Idol is one of the most popular television reality shows. Currently, season 12 of the show is on air and it enjoys a huge fan following. However, the show has been in the news for quite some time for all the wrong reasons. From the contestants and judges getting trolled brutally to viewers of the show demanding makers to eliminate few contestants, Indian Idol has been making headlines everyday and how! And now, the makers of the show have found themselves in another trouble.
On Monday, the Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) accused the makers of the show of showing 'Alibaug' in a poor light and demanded an apology for the same. If they fail to apologise on national television, the party warned of action against the show. For the uninitiated, during the recent episode, Indian Idol host Aditya Narayan was seen asking contestant Sawai Bhatt if he thinks they have come from Alibaug.
MNS Chitrapat Sena chief Amey Khopkar stated that he used the line, which is a part of a street lingo used to poke fun at people of Alibaug as small town simpletons, unused to the ways of metropolitan Mumbai. During his Facebook LIVE session, he said that he was informed about the same by MNS followers. He further shared that he has already spoken to Aditya Narayan's father Udit Narayan regarding the issue, as well as the people from the channel which hosts the show. 'The channel has been informed that an apology is a must in the upcoming episode or else MNS will be forced to take action,' he said.
