There is no denying the fact that the level of dance reality shows has risen in the past few years. And one show that has really raised the bar for budding dancers is Dance+. The past two seasons of this popular show have been a huge hit amongst the viewers for extraordinary dance performances by the contestants and now it’s back with a new season which will be a notch higher.
Tellychakkar.com team spoke to Punit Pathak, who is one of the most loved mentors of the show, and he shared the details of this season and his dream of becoming a filmmaker.
The talented dancer and choreographer said, “There are many dance reality shows in India. People try their luck everywhere. But after the success of second season of dance+, people waited for one year to give auditions for it. That is the biggest plus for our show this year. It is purely a dance based show and I guess that’s what people appreciated the most.”
Further talking about the challenges of this season, he added, “This season is filled with a lot of challenges as there will be international crew which will a part of Remo sir’s team. More than the contestants, we mentors are excited and looking forward to the show to unfold and it is an honor to work with such artists.”
Speaking about his experience of mentoring the show with his guru Remo, he shared, “I don’t think I will be able to describe my feelings into words and the respect I have for Remo sir. He’s a man of golden heart and his smile says it all. He has made all of us. He gave us a chance to work in his film ABCD and above all he believed in us. He’s an inspiration to every second dancer in this country.”
When asked about the level of dancing in India as compared to international level, he said, “I don’t think there is much difference apart from dance forms. In some countries dance forms are explored more and in some countries less. A big thing that India has achieved is now we have a dance form called ‘Bollywood Dance’ which is popular in many countries.”
We asked him why some artists get fame after a show and some don’t, and he replied, “Well, I’d only like to quote the tagline of our show- Talent hai to pehchaan hai aur plus hai to naam hai.”
Talking about his dream project, he quipped, “I want to become a filmmaker someday. Right now I don’t have enough time for it, but it’s something that I want to do and I will do. That will be my ultimate creative satisfaction.”
