Gaurav Chopraa, who was a part of Georgia edition of the American TV show "Dancing With The Stars", took out time to meet his fan, a girl who has been crippled ever since she was born. The actor says he tried to “give her some strength and hope”, adding that it was an emotional moment for him.
The actor, who has showcased his dancing prowess on the home turf through reality TV shows like "Nach Baliye" and "Zara Nachke Dikhaa", is now back to Mumbai after opting out of the international show due to prior work commitments.
His fan Lela was writing to Gaurav and the Georgian channel for months, saying that the character that Gaurav played in Hindi TV show “Uttaran” (Raghuvendra Pratap Rathore) gave her hope and strength because he fought for others. So, she felt that meeting him would give her positivity, read a statement.
When Gaurav got to known about her, he made sure that he visited Lela in her village, near a small town called Khulo.
Talking about his experience of meeting this special fan from Georgia, Gaurav said: “It was not really a promotional trip, so I wasn't with my dance partner and we didn't bring any other contestant along and we didn't really speak about the show. So, it was purely done because for humanitarian reasons and because they felt and they respected the sentiment that I wanted to go and see her.”
The actor added that he “went down to the village and the girl and their family greeted us with so much warmth and love, it was unbelievable".
"Her family members were all dressed up and her youngest sister had prepared a dance for me to an Indian song.
“I spoke to her and tried to give her some strength and hope which was my reason for meeting her, she started crying. Translator who was translating between me and her started crying too which led to this really emotional moment."
