Recently, the media was abuzz with the news that hot model cum reality show contestant Giselle Thakral (Life OK’s Welcome, Survivor India) had filed a police complaint against her suburban Mumbai gym and trainer at Fitness First in Mega Mall at Andheri, Ritesh Shaiwal, for imparting wrong exercising techniques which allegedly had left her bid ridden for two months with slip disc, nerve raptures and muscle spasms.
Giselle was recommended to get into the gym for weight loss and strengthening of her back muscles by celebrity trainer Sandeep Sachdev, who had won the Sahara One fitness show Biggest Looser Jeetega.
When we spoke to Sandeep, he said, “I have no idea why Giselle had filed the complaint in the first place. If she had some problems with her trainer she should have spoken to the management, why go to the cops. Ritesh is the best in the job, one of his clients is a 90 year old who recently ran the marathon. I will never help anyone from now on. Giselle came to ask for a good gym hence I recommended hr the place as it is the best and I work there as a celebrity nutritionist and trainer. But then she goes around bad mouthing them.”
When asked did you speak to Gizelle he said “no”. On being pushed to speculate as why Giselle may be doing all this he said, “This is between the gym and her but I believe may be she is doing all this for publicity.”
We then called up Giselle who rubbished Sandeep’s theory. “I was bed ridden for two months. Would I do it for publicity? No, I could even not go to the loo. Also my back is injured and for woman this body part is very important for child bearing abilities.”
Here she counters Sandeep and points out that they had not been in touch. “I called him and told him my problems and he instead of being sympathetic told me ‘baby chill it’s just your back. Is this the way to talk to a lady?”
“One of the main reasons for filing the complaint was that they (the gym personnel and Ritesh) did not even bother to ask me if I was okay. When I called my trainer and told him that I had a slip disc, he instead of blaming it on his trainings he said it might have occurred due to house work, I said had that happened I would have suffered numerous slip discs till now.”
She further adds, “May be, he gave me some weird exercises which caused my condition for I wanted to replace him, with someone else who also trains my friend. He is also way too expensive, so some times when I could not go I would ask my mother to cover for me. His sessions were too rigorous and he would not even allow for a 2 minute breather.”
Giselle says looking ahead she might opt for an out-of-court settlement. “I have been approached by several people who say that the gym wants to reach an understanding. Right now I’m in Pune and once I am back I will take a final decision after consulting with my mother and my legal team.”
Exercising can be real pain at times!!!
