I am back! Welcome to the second season as I complete one year of Eating Out with Stars with Tellychakkar.com, which has been challenging coordinating with the busy-as-bee actors, mostly going all the way to western suburbs from Chembur and I wish to thank all the restaurateurs for their support, undulating hospitality and all the yummy food that we are treated to with warmth and generosity.
Nevertheless, it has been fun as I explore not only various exotic world cuisines but also enter into my guest’s world of glitz and glamour. Introducing this season is a new segment – Rapid Fire round where the actors are caught off-guard with more than one tricky question.
I start this season with the effervescent, bubbly Rucha Gujarathi of Kkusum and Bhabhi fame. I invite her over to taste the food at a new place in Khar, which goes by the name of Hangover – a restaurant and lounge where one can relax with friends and sip on some classic cocktails like the fascinating vodka-based Prince Charming and munch on delicious multi-cuisine starters.
Both of us reached the venue at almost the same time and Rucha surprised me with her svelte figure, not that she was overweight any time but now she looked slimmer and smarter in white pencil pants combined with a black top and black-n-white shrug.
Despite a hairline fracture to her wrist some time back, Rucha graciously agreed to come driving all the way from Borivali to Khar to meet me and now it was my turn to give her a relish-worthy experience at Romi Chadha”s Hangover Restobar.
After zeroing in on a cosy seating, I opted for the uniquely named Could U Hug Me Please cocktail that is a heady concoction of tequila, vodka, rum, peach schnapps and strawberry icecream while Rucha loved her mocktail California Drop as she found the mix of apple juice, fresh cream, litchi crush with a hint of cinnamon quite refreshing with appetizers like melt-in-the-mouth Corn and Cheese balls, Mozarella sticks and the actor especially liked the Pepper Potatoes.
Rucha reveals she is good at cooking and can make a mean khichdi and dishes from the Orient as she did in the reality show Welcome on Life OK. We do get a little gossipy talking about her co-participants on the show. Rucha who was last seen on Savdhan India and Saas Bina Sasural is presently busy hosting a cookery show with Chef Rakesh Sethi on Big Magic. So, I gather food plays an important part in the stylish girl’s life and wonder if she should open her own eatery. “Not a bad idea,” she agrees. Don’t be surprised if she turns into a restaurateur soon.
Hangover has some tongue tingling Tandoori dishes besides South East Asian items on its menu besides lots of Southeast Asian dishes (Satay, Spring Rolls, Noodles, Manchurian) and Pizzas and Pastas to suit every palate. We call another round of mocktails, this time Kiwi based Virgin Mojitho and Rucha simply enjoys it with the main course. As a typical Gujju, the pretty actor is quite well-versed with the stock market, MCX and gold price.
I do a rapid fire round with Rucha and reward her for her honest answers with a yummy dessert of Brownie with hot chocolate. After a sumptuous dinner, she takes leave of me and promises to keep me updated on all her career moves. I wish her a successful career and a happy personal life.
And no, I did not have a hangover after meeting this pleasant and sweet actor!
