HISTORY TV18 is all set to pay tribute to Whitney Houston

Whitney’s singing career began in the local gospel choir that quickly graduated to earning her a Grammy Award for I Will Always Love You. Her musical career shot to fame from the time she had sung to Clive Davis’ at Arista Records. Whitney was also a successful model and a versatile actor. Beautiful, talented, self-confident and seemingly at ease with herself, she was an embodiment of successful women of 20th century and an inspirational icon to many young girls of her generation. Unfortunately, achievement also came with its own challenges. Her marriage in 1992 to fellow musical star Bobby Brown surprised many people but rumours soon followed about the couple indulging in illegal drug use and tales of spousal abuse. The impact on Houston as a performer and as a person was devastating as her musical appearances began to be characterised by inexplicable breakdowns to the extent that she became almost unrecognisable. After long period of drug abuse, Whitney struggled with her musical career and personal life. She sadly breathed her last on 11 February. Whatever be it, Whitney’s music was an inspiration to millions of individuals across the world to pursue their own dreams.
