Talented actress Maitrayee, who is currently enacting the role of a villain in Colors Bangla’s Ki Kore Toke Bolbo, says that she is fortunate to play the role of a villain in a ‘normal’ way.
On the looks of villains of various soaps, she opined, “As an audience, I have observed that the villains wear a typical look, which is different from other people.”
“I feel if the look establishes one as a villain then there is no scope to act and express that he/she is a villain. I am fortunate that the channel has provided me an opportunity to play the role of a villain in a ‘normal’ way. I am enjoying my work,” she added.
So, how the actress is enacting the particular role?
She explained, “There are villains in our normal lives also and they are just like any of us. Actually, when an evil thought posses our minds we become villains. So, I am trying to play the role in a normal way. I speak normally and remain sweet (to people).”
Maitrayee said that while playing the role of Saroja in Ki Kore Toke Bolbo she is taking inspiration from ace actress Aruna Irani.
She shared, “For this role, I am trying to follow Aruna Irani like a text book but I am unable to bring her style in my performance.”
“In many of her films, there is that cold acting and attitude, which haunts me. I am trying to keep that in my mind,” she added.
Although Maitrayee is working hard to play the role as much realistically as possible but she has no aim to be marked as an actress who plays only villains.
She said humorously, “I don’t want to get typecast as a villain that people stop offering me positive roles.”
“Neither I want to be a heroine nor a villain. I want to be an actress,” she signed off.
Well said, Maitrayee!
