Abhay Vakil who has immense experience in his acting career with shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Saara Akaash, Palki, Teen Bahuraniyaan, Zaara and Salaam Zindagi feels that the lead role of Raunak in his Star Plus show, Silsila Pyar Ka has been the best comeback vehicle for him.
Says Abhay, “My character has always been performance-oriented, and will remain the same throughout the tenure of the show. This is one reason why I opted to take this role.”
Abhay did not want to get back with a routine show wherein he will have to stand in the background. Instead, he wanted to carry the show on his shoulders. “I wanted to play the guy in the forefront, rather than being in the background. I did not want to play a plain and sober husband to the main protagonist. I cannot ask for anything better than this role in Silsila.”
Talking about his character and show, Abhay states, “This show is really unique; see the kind of fast-paced drama we have had till now. For viewers, this edge of the seat drama is something different, when compared to the regular daily formats they have seen. The ratings have been consistent and we are sure that it will increase in the near future.”
He continues, “I have got to explore lot of shades in the character. Earlier, Raunak was the boy next door, followed by a young man smitten by romance. Later he got to be violent and emotional after losing his love. Now he is getting weak in front of the little kid’s love.”
Ask him about his reaction to the death of Sehban Azim’s character, and he explains, “We really did not see that coming. That was a shocking twist to the tale. We already miss Sehban on the sets. We had become real good friends, and I miss his presence now.”
On the show not starting on a good note in terms of numbers, Abhay says, “Yes, I would have been happier if we had a better rating to begin with. It is a good show, and we have worked very hard on it. However, we have not lost hope and look to raise the bar. With Star Plus making all its soaps seven days a week, there’s lot of drama to look forward to in Silsila.
Abhay, we wish you luck!!
