I do not take roles in daily soaps where I need to stand like a furniture - Sudeep Sarangi

Sudeep Sarangi
Actor Sudeep Sarangi who rose to fame with his debut in the Tamil movie Kaadal Kondein has seen his share of ups and downs in life. Life has taught him the art of staying strong, and sticking to the goals that one needs to achieve in life. Speaking about how destiny played a major part in forcing him to pull up his socks, Sudeep told us, “I come from a middle class background. When I got my first major break through the Tamil movie, I was not at all focussed in life. And for an outsider like me to be part of such a popular Tamil movie made me a lucky guy. However, even after being accepted in South for the challenging roles I was capable of playing, I never got my next big break in movies. You can again call that destiny. Then came a low phase in my life wherein I took a complete break from acting for nearly three years. There were many personal setbacks in my life, and I never did bother to seek job as an actor again. In fact, I joined a job to make both ends meet. And at this time, I got a call for Prithviraj Chauhan and this was a major comeback for me. If you see my career graph, you can clearly see that I take up roles that are convincing. I do not take roles in daily soaps where I need to stand like a furniture.” Talking about the creative satisfaction one can get by doing films and television, the actor said, “TV and films are very different when you see them from the level of creativity and the intensity of performances. Also, there is a vast difference between TV in India and abroad. However, the transition in TV is on now, with shows like 24 coming in. TV is working at a fast phase and is indeed booming. But the ultimate for an actor would be to do off-beat cinema. I am glad to have been associated with good film makers. I started my career with films and later moved to TV. Now I am again switching back to movies. While you get a good pay cheque in TV, working in films gives you a personal high.” Sudeep feels that the start to the year 2014 has been good enough for him. “I have few movies in the pipeline, and God willing I will again be doing quality work in movies by May 2014,” expressed the actor. Sudeep, may you flourish and prosper as an actor in the near future.
