I have always been a big fan of Coke Studio - Pritam Chakraborty

MTV’s Coke Studio Season 4 will see a powerhouse of performers blazing their guns in full force. Among the impressive line-up of musicians includes acclaimed music director, Pritam Chakraborty. Pritam who is making his first appearance on the show said that owing to paucity of time he could never make a full-fledged appearance on the show in its last three seasons.

“I have to give my time to MTV this time. They are very sweet. I have always been a big fan of Coke Studio but unfortunately I could never find time to do it. However, this time MTV Coke Studio is spread over a period of 12 months and I couldn't give any more excuses and had to do it,” said Pritam.

MTV’s Coke Studio has grown in leaps and bounds in its last three seasons, a fact Pritam too openly acknowledges. “I would say MTV Coke Studio has evolved to a great extent in the last three years. For me, this is an opportunity to do something that is not film based. Also with Coke Studio, there is a whole lot of scope to experiment with your music because you are not following a brief. ”

While MTV Coke Studio will open with musician Amit Trivedi’s song, Pritam is yet to decide on his composition and the genre of music that he would be seen exhibiting in his episode. “To be honest, I have not yet given it a serious thought. I am not thinking much about Coke Studio now. By March, I will have a clear idea on the artistes that I plan to collaborate with. There is still some time for me to think and make the right choice.”

On the film front, Pritam is as busy as a bee composing music for hordes of mega-budget Bollywood films. Buzz is that he has also inked a deal with Rohit Shetty for his directorial next starring King Khan. Pritam however would rather remain tightlipped than let the cat out of the bag about this one. When quizzed, a diplomatic Pritam said, “I don’t know anything about it till now. In Hindi film industry, you don’t know about anything unless it is finally offered to you. Abhi tak kuch nahi hai. I have met Rohit casually and not formally. I too have read reports about me doing the music for Rohit Shetty’s film in newspapers and I hope it turns out to be true. I would love to collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit. Who wouldn’t want to?”

We can’t agree more, Pritam.
