Starting up early in life, Taher Shabbir stepped into the industry as a documentary filmmaker and was handpicked by Piyush Mishra. Soon he joined Sudhir Mishra and later went on to work in films like Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai that opened a plethora of opportunities for him. And today the good looking guy is seen playing the royal Viraj in Star Plus’ Nisha Aur Uske Cousins (Bodhi Tree Pictures).
Tellychakkar.com got in touch with the guy to know more about his journey.
“I started pretty early and got to work in some of the best projects. Apart from being assistant and associate director with the best of people in the industry, I was working with advertisements also. When I was working on Agneepath, the acting bug hit me hard and I decided to train myself in acting, and here you can see the outcome,” smiled Taher.
“I was the typical nerd sort and had to train hard for two years and although I wasn’t much into TV, when I got this opportunity I couldn’t say no to this beautiful show. It not just wants to empower woman but also has a very fresh content that stands out from the usual shows. Also I got a chance to play a character that is super interesting. I have always been intrigued by Rajputs and getting a chance to rifle shoot made me excited.”
Talking further about the team he said, “Touchwood, I am blessed with the best team. I always believe that a show or film is not just a creative product but also should create a vision. I am fortunate that all of us have the same objective and that makes the show a great product.”
“I have also started respecting TV more with this show, for I never knew that shows could be made with such happy messages. Also so many people have started recognizing me after this show. It is a humble feeling to be recognized in malls and roads and I must say it’s all thanks to TV,” averred Taher.
When we asked the actor about how much he relates with the character, he quipped, “It is actually funny, for in some qualities we are very similar and in some we are too different. Although the principles and his take on women are same, the body language and nature of both are very different. I am more of a chilled out guy and usually enjoy life.”
“Since I had suffered an accident leading to paralysis on the left side, the same has been fused in the character. But yes, belonging to a happy household I have no clue how one can have such a strained relationship with his family like Viraj has,” added Taher.
The drop-dead sexy guy will also be seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s next Fan. Sharing more details about it, he shared, “It has been my dream to work with SRK before I turn 30, and here I get a chance to share screen space with him. Having earlier worked behind the scenes with him, I was quite comfortable with him, which he too noticed (laughs). Working for TV has surely strengthened me as an actor and I hope to do some really great stuff on TV and Bollywood in the coming time.”
Finally revealing the confusion behind his name, Taher shared, “As an actor I use my dad’s name Shabbir as an ode to him, otherwise I use my family name Mithaiwala. So it’s just a means to thank him.”
Wish you luck Taher!!
