A page from the personal diary of Smriti Kalra Hello fans...Smriti Kalra here. Currently, in the television space I am seen playing the lead Suvreen in Channel V’s Suvreen Guggal-Topper of the Year. Let’s go in a little flashback zone. I was born and raised in Delhi. My father is a senior officer of the Indian Army and my mother is a house wife and I have an elder brother who is a software engineer and they are all currently stationed in the capital city. I completed my graduation in Journalism and also pursued Business Management from IIM, Kolkata. Besides this, I was also hosting radio shows on Red FM. I could have continued my job as a radio jockey but I always wanted to make my career in television. Now, here comes an interesting anecdote on how my journey started in the industry. Once, I was sitting at a coffee shop and suddenly some people from the production house (Sunshine Productions) approached me. They were observing me and felt that I suited the character best. They passed on their business card to me and requested to contact them if I was interested in playing a role in their upcoming serial. My first reaction was not really great. I thought they were trying to trap me and felt a little offended. But later I saw the business card precisely and I noticed a real address, a known logo and a real company. I decided to take a chance and contacted them later. I went for the audition and things started falling into place and thus I bagged the role of Simi Shetty in the show 12/24 Karol Bagh. And now...as I already mentioned, is part of Suvreen Guggal. I think my journey till now has been very great, neither too easy nor too difficult. I feel I am a lot like Surveen Guggal in real life... in terms of philosophy. Life is short, so live it to the fullest. My parents have always been very supportive although they were initially little skeptical about me getting into television. My dad always keep telling me that you are a well qualified girl and I respect my dad a lot and consider him as the pillar in my life. But now they have started living with the fact that I am a television actress but they, at times, get a little worried. At the end, they know I will do just fine in life as I am passionate towards my work On personal front... I am a very talkative and impulsive kind of a person. I don’t like to be at home. I like to travel. In fact... I am planning a trip to Italy and explore the place and myself while eating yummy pizzas and gelato ice creams. I also have a liking for reading, boxing and river rafting. I hate girly talks and I hate one thing in acting...which is applying make-up. About my relationship status, I am very much single and if I get some good guy I will surely date him but a big no for someone from the television industry. I want the guy to be smart and brainy. Lastly, I would tell all the lovely fans to live your life to the fullest. Live as if you don’t have a second chance... so enjoy and be happy!!!
