I would not do a mythological show, unless I am offered a title role - Vineet Raina

Vineet Raina
Fine-looking Vineet Raina may come across as a person who throws weight around, but talk to him and one would know how grounded his personality is and how he treats almost everyone with utmost humility. While the actor has shown his talent through shows such as Maryada, Punar Vivah, Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai and recently Lapataganj, we indulge into a candid conversation with him about his journey in this industry. Vineet states, “I have got ample offers in my kitty, but I cannot do something where there is no creativity involved. Unfortunately, majority of the shows on television today kick-start by promising how the show will be different but at the end of it, we actors get stuck in the same rut and creativity goes down the drain. I have previously done some great work like Maryada and Punar Vivah where every character has had its own importance. I do not want to essay clichéd characters.” Talking about Lapataganj, Vineet elaborates of how the character of Bajranj was something which brought out varied expressions every time and that is why he opted to essay the role of a cop. But now that the show plans to shut shop, we ask him about the kind of projects he would like to take up ahead. Says Vineet, “Well, all I can say for now is that I will definitely not take up a show where I do not get an opportunity to perform and showcase my talent. Also, a mythological show is something I would not take up unless I am offered a title role. The reason behind this is that I am allergic to artificial jewellery and a title role would not require me to put on a lot of those ornaments.” Vineet, we wish you luck for banking on creative projects!!!
