This is a first! Indian Idol2's Ravi Tripathi has signed a yet to be titled, Bollywood flick to be produced by Salim Tanwar.
Ravi will not only act in the film, but will also sing four songs for the same. "I am very excited about the Hindi film. Although I have signed the film, they haven't yet made any formal announcement. I think they are still finalising on the cast, " says Ravi, who's also doing a few Bhojpuri films for which he will begin shooting in June last week.
"Bhojpuri films are doing very well and I have decided not to say no to work! I believe that Indian Idol has given me a lot of fame and recognition, the media has written about me a lot, but it will all fizzle out in four months time. So I want to make the most of it. It's important that we contestants make the most of the break we have got! I have been very lucky. I don't want to be a superstar...I want to take it step by step!" smiles Ravi.
According to our sources Ravi's leading lady will be Tanushree Dutta and the story is based on the life of a singer. Many emminent singers will lend their voices to the film, including Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam.
"I have never done a film before, so this experience is really exciting. I have done theatre in school and college and frankly, I am counting on the Idol experience to guide me," points out Ravi.
Did you know?
The 29-year old ran away from home to become a singer. He found refuge in singer, Suresh Wadkar. He refers to Wadkar as his God. "He took me in when I didn't have anything. He gave me free food and shelter and no fee for being my Guru," says Ravi, who stays with the singer. Few know that Ravi was doing his MBBS when the singing bug hit him. His parents were livid with his decision and that's why he decided to take the extreme step. His parents finally turned around when his mother's photograph appeared in the papers along with him!
