Indian Telly Technical Awards: Television writing is all about being inventive, says Akash Deep

MUMBAI: The Indian Telly Technical Trade and Programming Awards are now in its 15th edition. These awards aim to honour the best of the crew who works behind the camera. There is no doubt that actors work hard to portray their characters on-screen, but we must also acknowledge those who work on the sets at various levels and contribute their sweat and blood to make a show a hit.

Technical executives, PR and marketing professionals, and creative directors, all of those who work behind the scenes to keep the show going, are clearly the spine of a production house or TV channel.

Akash Deep, who creatively contributes to script writing, has actively assisted writers in innumerable TV projects such as Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Sasural Simar Ka, Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani, Swaragini, Santoshi Maa, Jamai Raja, Ikyawaan, and Dil Dhoondta Hai. In fact, he worked as an independent screenplay writer for Sony TV’s Hanuman.

As Akash continues to spread magic through his stories, he tells us about his contribution to this industry and the hard work, commitment, and dedication that scriptwriters give to the show.

He says, ‘Television writing is all about being inventive all the time. You need to have your viewers asking for more, and that’s what I strive for all the time. Keep the story simple and the characters strong.’
