The Amazing Race Asia 3, an adventure reality show on AXN had four Indian contestants among international beauty queens, actors and heiresses. As the name suggests, it is adventure race where each team will have to reach a given destination performing various tasks. The team which is last in the race gets eliminated. The final winning team will get a prize money of US$100,000. One of the teams from India consisting of an air hostess and her cousin (Neena Rai and Amit Rai) got eliminated in the first week. The second team from India consisting of the father-son duo got eliminated in the fourth episode. Father Niroo Asrani is a theatre actor whereas his son Kapil Asrani is an HR executive in a corporate firm. Tellychakkar spoke to this father-son duo Niroo Asrani and Kapil Asrani about their experience on this non-stop thrilling adventure race around the globe. How did this show happen? Niroo Asrani: I have been a fan of this show. I used to follow both the earlier seasons and I had a huge desire to be a part of it. I would continuously send them mails expressing my desire to be on the show. I eventually got a reply from them saying that they are conducting the auditions for its new season and the rest is history. I had even applied for Bigg Boss 2 but it did not work out. Kapil Asrani: I just tagged along with my Dad for this show. It was he who wanted to participate but I had a great time on the show. How did you get eliminated? Niroo Asrani: It was because of our lack of knowledge. In the task where we got eliminated, required us to perform using an automatic driven vehicle. We don’t have automatic vehicles in India, so it was difficult for us. Adding to it, our knowledge about the language and area of these countries was a hindrance. Kapil Asrani: But I am satisfied that we did not get eliminated very early in the show. I am extremely happy about my journey in that show. Were you devastated after the result? Niroo Asrani: It feels sad to be out of this show. But it is a part of the game. Someone had to be out and we got out, so it is fine. Kapil Asrani: I feel like going and trouncing every one who defeated us. Anyways, the experience was mind boggling. Before entering the show, I never thought that it would be so tough but we did quite well. Your best moments in the show? Niroo Asrani: Being in the show itself is the best thing to happen. I feel so privileged to be a part of this show. We got an opportunity to do things that was impossible otherwise. For example, a task named ‘flight of gibbons’ was extremely thrilling. We had to slide down a wire rope from the height of fifty meters. It was very scary. Kapil Asrani: I had my best moments in the very first task where we had to eat a bowl full of grasshoppers, flies and scorpions. My Dad kept puking in this task. Do you plan to participate again in any such show together? Niroo Asrani: Yes, we would love to be on such a show once again. We are looking forward to doing more of such shows. Kapil Asrani: Yes, but the standard of that show should be as good as this one. My experience in this show was so phenomenal that I would only like to be in a show that matches to this experience. I think Fear Factor would be good.
