“I love films, and watch films from across the world, be it our own Indian or English or Spanish or any other films..,” revealed Puneeth Rajkumar to Tellychakkar.com in Bengaluru. Puneeth is one of Sandalwood’s biggest stars and anchor for the first and the current second season of the Kannada KBC Kannadada Kotyadhipathi on the Star Network’s Kannada channel Suvarna TV. Puneeth’s favorite amongst the recent releases is the newer version of Django, he says that he liked the older one starring Franco Nero too. A very physically fit Puneeth loves squash and diving and is the brand ambassador for IPL’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team since 2009. Like his late father and doyen of Kannada filmdom, Dr. Rajkumar, Puneeth is also a brand ambassador for the Karnataka Government’s milk brand Nandini. About on his favorite television shows, Puneeth says that he loves watching offerings of the NGC and Discovery Networks. Though Puneeth has acted mainly in Kannada films, his Telugu and Malayalam movies have actually been dubbed in those languages. Because of his love for cinema, Puneeth is open to association in any cinema in any language and not necessarily as the lead or in front of the screen. Puneet handles one film project at a time and is willing to wait for the right association with other language films. Puneeth debuted as an actor at the age of five under his real name Lohith. As a child actor he won a National Award for a Child Artiste for his role in the movie ‘Bettada Hoovu’. Apart from acting, Puneeth has also had a singing career. He has sung since his childhood in all his movies as a child artist. Before re-entering the film industry he was actively involved in a home banner Vajreshwari Combines' film distribution in Karnataka, an association which still continues. He has also produced some of the movies. Puneeth loves the Kannada film industry and wants it to regain the place that it held in the eighties of the last century, a time when Kannada filmdom was at its zenith and his father was one of the leaders of the Indian film industry. “Kannada cinema is slowly getting there. The industry which is small now, has to work as a team to grow. Besides being one of the most creative sets of people across all facets of films in the country, teamwork is required for the Kannada film industry to prosper and to be noticed,” shared the actor. To that end Puneeth is quite happy with the idea of English subtitles for Kannada films.
