MUMBAI: Actor Abhishek Rawat, who played the lead in shows like Bhatak Lena Bawre and Service Wali Bahu, was missing from the small screen for quite some time. His last outing was a small cameo in the show Choti Sarrdaarni before he recently took up the show Kaamnaa.

“A few years back, TV shows were mainly about saas-bahu sagas. But with the advent of new platforms and concepts, there has been a shift in the way stories are being told,” says this Lucknowite. We wonder if sitting at home, not getting the desired projects was in any way frustrating for the Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo actor. “When the desired projects don't come your way of course it is quite frustrating. I had to decide whether to take up projects just to keep my kitchen running or wait for the right one. This is a dilemma that every actor faces,” he says.
Intending to work in web shows, Abhishek says, “TV is not really an actor's medium, the way say a web series is. Because in TV, there is a lot to be said in those 21 minutes of an episode. At the editing table, the editor will just cut one’s dialogues. The emotional shifts between the two dialogues are mostly not there on TV. A lot of an actor’s performance gets lost in a TV show.”
So has he drawn a line for himself for the web? “Yes, as far as bold content is concerned, I have drawn a line. A lot of bold content in the shows is mostly not needed and is done to grab the eyeballs and the subscription of the viewers.”
