MUMBAI: When one hears Draupadi, the instant thought that comes to ones’ mind is the evergreen Roopa Ganguly and her stellar performance for the role in the early days of Mahabharata. While the re-runs of the epic mytho has been well received by the audience in these last few months, Star Bharat’s leading show RadhaKrishn Krishn-Arjun Gatha is gearing up to give a revisit to the grand Swayamvar, where the talented television star Ishita Ganguly will be seen essaying the role of Draupadi.

They say copying a certain role or character is easy but taking inspiration from an artist is looking up to their art form and respecting their talent. Such is the belief of this young and talented actresses where sources say that Ishita Ganguly has proudly stated that for her stint in the show, she takes inspiration from Roopa Ganguly’s depiction of her role of Draupadi.
When spoken to Ishita, she said, “I am a big fan of Roopa Ganguly and I have seen her amazing performance as Draupadi. Co-incidentally we are both from Kolkata and I am a huge fan of her work and having got the opportunity to play the role of Draupadi While I definitely can’t compare our performances as she is a legend and a senior artist of the industry, I will try my best to justify the role of Draupadi in my own little way taking inspiration from Roopa Ma’am”
