MUMBAI: Sonal Panvar, who is seen as Malaika in Sanjay and Binaiferr Kohli’s Happu ki Ultan Paltan, which is produced under their banner Edit II, is excited to celebrate Diwali. She said it’s a very special festival for her and added, “It’s a time when all of us look forward to coming together. Every year, my cousins and all the family members unite, and we have a strong family connection.”
She further said, “I share a close bond with each member, and Diwali brings us all together, which is the most beautiful thing about the festival. I’m also the only girl child in the family, so I get a lot of pampering during Diwali, which makes it even more special for me.”
Talking about her best Diwali memory, she said they were the ones when she was young. “My family used to treat me as if I were the goddess Lakshmi, and they would do a small puja, give me gifts, and sometimes even jewelry. Those are precious memories for me. We also used to burn firecrackers, which was a lot of fun, but now they are banned, so those moments remain as sweet memories,” she said.
Sharing deets of her reel life and her character Malika, she shared that she wore a green outfit for the show. She added, “It was quite different from my character Malika, who is usually not very festive. We tried to make her look a little girly to bring out a different side of her.”
While she enjoys shooting every day, filming festive scenes is much fun for her. “There are always funny and lighthearted moments with my on-screen family, especially with my screen mother, dadi, and mosi,” she said.
“We share jokes, laugh, and have a great time even between takes. Sometimes, while holding the diyas, the actors will step aside to make their own Diwali videos, wishing everyone a happy Diwali. The set is decorated for Diwali, and it feels festive, so it adds to the joy,” Sonal ended.
