It is very easy to emote or remain silent, but to make people laugh is a tough task - Zoya Khan

Zoya Khan
The seasonal bandwagon continues with the new season of Jai Maa Vindhyavasini titled Love Dosti Dua on BIG Magic. And joining the cast and crew for the new season is actress Zoya Khan who essays one of the leads, Tulika. Zoya who has been an anchor and model before turning into an actress has earlier been part of the romantic short film Machhar-Daani, a romantic love story of two childhood friends inside a mosquito net. The actress had earlier been part of Bairi Piya on Colors, Baat Hamari Pakki Hai on Sony TV and Jugni Chali Jalandhar on SAB TV. Talking about her role in Love Dosti Dua, Zoya says, “Tulika is more of a bubbly, lively and energetic character. She is a Mumbai based girl who is a law student. I have never played such a character before, and I am excited to be part of this show. In my short film, I played a similar character who was bubbly and chirpy. But when it comes to Tulika, she is a self-made girl, completely positive. The girl will speak anything and everything without thinking much.” “Tulika happens to be the childhood friend of Shiv (Shashank Sethi). She can do anything for him. And as per the title and the character related, Shiv spreads all the ‘Love’, Tulika’s character is epitome of ‘Dosti’ and Gauri (Divya Mallik) is all about ‘Dua’ owing to her devotion to Maa Vindhyavasini,”, avers the actress. On the comic element in the show, Zoya tells us, “This is a romcom with quite a lot of comical situations. The manner in which my character reacts to situations is quite hilarious. Not everyone can excel in comedy as it requires great timing. We have quite a lot of gelling together in the show which leads to comic elements. I am sure viewers will like this aspect in our show.” Comparing her present character to her other characters, the girl says, “This is my fourth show on TV. I played a timid, positive and shy girl in Baat Humari Pakki Hai. But the character did not get enough space to perform. Tulika in Love Dosti Dua is very positive, but has the spunk and chirpiness in her. She also has a sense of possessiveness in her when it comes to her childhood friend Shiv. My role in Bairi Piya was an out and out negative character. And Jugni Chali Jalandhar gave me my first scope in comedy wherein I essayed a comic Umrao Jaan. It is very easy to emote or remain silent on screen, but to make people laugh is a tough task. I am glad that I get an opportunity to make people laugh through my show.” Looking ahead, Zoya explains, “I only wish that our show does well. Since it is being aired on BIG Magic which has comparatively less viewership, I simply hope and pray that the channel gets aired at all places and in all set top boxes so that the viewership increases.” Wish you all the luck, Zoya.
