India TV is the first news channel to come up with a reality show based on the Cricket World Cup tournament that starts tomorrow. It’s called Bigg Toss and not only does it sound like Bigg Boss but the two shows have other similarities too.
The show has celebrity contestants who are kept in a villa in Noida. The participants include Veena Malik, Rakhi Sawant, Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh Bundhel, RJ Simran, Punjabi pop singer Ashok Masti, former Delhi University Student’s Union leader Amrita Dhawan, singer and guitarist Shanker Sawhney, Zoobi Doobi singer Zahid Nigam, Delhi BJP leader Vijay Jolly, Delhi Congress leader Mukesh Sharma, Haryana wrestler Sangram Singh, hair stylist Sylvie, MTV contestant Sakshi Bhayana and Arvind Swami.
Interestingly, both Veena and Rakhi have their Bigg Boss experiences to fall back on. The participants are under CCTV cameras all the time and they will be seen watching matches involving India and discuss the pros and cons of players.
The pre-match episode will see the contestants divided in to two groups. They will be given various "Bigg Toss Tasks" which one of the groups needs to win to get the first chance for choosing the player and the other team can choose a player from the remaining lot. At the end of the episodes the teams will have to wait for the next day to see their performance in the match. Bigg Toss Task will include small cricket-related games like flying off bails and stumps through bowling. The post match episode will have all the house mates and their teams being awarded points on the basis of performance of the players chosen by them. From here whoever gets the highest points would be adjudged the winner.
But there is something known as "Master Stroke" which will be introduced in the post match episodes to give twists and turns to the proceedings in the house and whosoever gets higher points through Master Stroke may become the winner. Here when a winner is about to be declared based on the maximum points inmates will be given chance to earn more points by searching for miniature bats hidden in the house at various locations.
Rakhi's spokesperson confirmed her participation in the show and said, "Rakhi always wanted to do something with cricket as she had done Rakhi Ke Bouncer with Sahara TV four years ago. This time it was a news channel coming up with something on cricket that is why she took it up."
The contestants will be part of the house till the tournament ends. The show airs in the 8 to 9 pm slot.
