TV heartthrob Karan V Grover, who rose to fame with Zee TV’s Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, is all set to make his film debut with Wedding Pulao.
For the first time ever fans of Karan will watch him on big screens. The movie also marks directorial debut of Binod Pradhan.
On bagging the film, Karan shared, “Well, I was doing a show for Shashi Ranjan and Anu Ranjan for which I had grown my beard as I was just too lazy to shave off. But surprisingly, Shashi sir liked my look and asked me to give audition for his upcoming film. He liked me and that’s how I bagged this project.”
How was your experience working with Binod Pradhan? “Binod sir is a genius man. He can make anything look gorgeous and he eye to detail not only for a frame but towards the nuances of your body language. The inputs that he gives while you are performing are simply enhancing. It was truly learning experience with him.”
Where you nervous or confident? “I was very nervous. It’s my first film and I look very different from how I have looked over the years so that is also experimental for me.”
Why you choose to mark debut with his film? “To be honest it was a very much unplanned. It was not anticipated and frankly the choice for your debut is kind of limited when you don't belong to a film family. But it has made me just belief in the fact that 'go with the flow'.”
What about television? “Yes, you will see me on the small screen very soon. I genuinely want to try and do films and TV together."
Was it difficult to be part of film industry with no god father support? “Yes, it’s difficult to establish yourself in the initial stage. But after a point to be successful everyone has to prove their metal on screen irrespective of the family or godfather supporting them.”
How was it working with Anushka Ranjan who also makes her debut with this film? “Anushka is an emotional brat. She gets affected by smallest of gestures in a good and a bad way. She has a crazy sense of positivity and that is very contagious. She is extremely hard working and has a crazy energy about her which is evident on screen. Plus she is almost 5'11", my tallest heroine so far (Laughs).”
All the best Karan!
