MUMBAI : ‘Jagriti - Ek Nayi Subah,’ set in the fictional town of Mokshgarh in Jharkhand’s Jamtara district, explores the systemic injustice faced by the Chitta community.

Children in this community are labelled criminals from birth, denied education, forced into hunting, and exploited by feudal lords who dominate the region. Produced by Guroudev Bhalla Productions, Jagriti - Ek Nayi Subah follows the journey of seven-year-old Jagriti, a determined girl from the Chitta community who rejects the fate imposed on her.

Intelligent and hopeful, Jagriti questions the unfair labelling of her people as criminals. Her curiosity and sense of justice often get her into trouble, but she remains committed to challenging the unjust system.

In  an exclusive interview with Arya, he mentioned his bond with Asmi and how creatively challenging his role was in the show.

Arya shared, “The industry has given me a lot of love and appreciation. I have done stand-up comedy too but I think I needed something as an actor. This character is a misogynist, who believes that there are different stratas in society, and does not like the idea of progression or any kind of change. I am playing a role which is very different from my personality. So to get into the skin of my character was something creatively challenging and I loved every bit of the effort put into it.

Talking about his bond and the reaction to action chemistry with co-actors specially Asmi Deo, who is a child artist, Arya shared, “I have never felt that I have to make an extra effort when it comes to shooting with Asmi. She has the titular role and her performance is outstanding. I never felt that Asmi is not performing up to the mark or there are retakes.”

Arya spoke about his look test too. He expressed, “When I had given a look test for the show, I had worn a black sherwani and salwar only. Maybe that is something which probably worked in my favour which the production house and the channel liked too.”
