MUMBAI: Jay Soni has built a remarkable career in Indian television, earning acclaim for his versatility and charm. He initially caught the audience's attention with his role in Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan, but it was his portrayal of Ishaan in Sasural Genda Phool that truly established him as a household name. His performance as the warm, understanding husband won hearts and made him a favorite among family drama lovers.
Over the years, Jay has played a dynamic range of characters. From lead roles in shows like Sanskaar – Dharohar Apnon Ki to competing in popular reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Nach Baliye, he has consistently showcased his talent and adaptability.
In a recent comeback, Jay joined the cast of the popular long-running series ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, where he played Abhinav Sharma—a character that added emotional depth to the narrative and received praise from fans and critics alike.
Recently, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein fame Karan Patel had spoken up in an interview about new actors are being approached because they charge less fees compared to actors from his league who charge more.
In an exclusive interview with Tellychakkar, Jay Soni was asked about his opinion what Karan patel had said. And sure enough, Jay Soni gave an interesting response.
Jay Soni said, “Aapne woh wala fruit suna hai, Avocado? Jo mehnga hai par log fir bhi khate hai. Baki sab fruits saste aate hai par log kha rahe hai but Avocado bhi khate hai na log. Toh same ke fruits toh bohot saare hai, but hum log Avocado hai.”
When asked if he faces something similar or is he getting projects offered, he said, “Aa rahe hai mujhe projects but apni convenience ke hisaab se I’ll pick a project. And mera woh wala scene hai ‘Jhukunga nahi’ Kuch bhi ho jaye. I don’t need 10 producers. I need 1 producer who wants Jay Soni. Main koi bhaji tarkari nahi hoon ke aap log mujhe bhaav-tol karke leke aaoge ki mera na itne budget mein maan jaiye na so woh main hoon nahi. If you want performance, acha actor chahiye toh aapko dena padega. Avocado acha lagta hai, khate ho na? Paisa dekh ke khate ho na? Itna mehnga fruit hai phir bhi khate ho? Kyu ki chahiye aapko woh.”

Talking about his upcoming projects, Jay Soni is entering a new league of becoming a ‘Digital Jockey’. As we know, there are DJs and RJs, where the former stands for Disk Jockey and the latter for Radio Jockey, now we will get to see Digital Jockey, Jay Soni to be the first one, which just shows how exciting it can be. Jay Soni will be the first digital Jockey for 92.7 Big FM.
