Funny and honey toned Sugandha Mishra rose to fame with The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. She is currently seen in Hansi Hi Hansi Mil Lein and Comedy Nights With Kapil.
In a chat with Tellychakkar.com, Sugandha spoke about her journey, comedy and more.
Being a comedian, tell us how difficult it is to make someone laugh? She replied “It is very difficult to make one laugh. It’s easy to make someone angry or to make a person cry, but laughter is very complex.”
How has comedy evolved over the years? “Now-a-days comedy is more defined and subtle. There is more bright humour involved. And there is less of cheap comedy and double meaning jokes.”
Whose mimicry do you enjoy doing the most? “I enjoy mimicking Lataji, Kangana Ranaut and Rakhi Gulzar. I have been imitating celebs since my childhood. I can make 60 different kind of voice and have won awards for the same.”
How has your journey been? “My first show was Laughter Challenge as a comedian, and then as a singer in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and now as an actor, the journey has been very satisfying. I always dreamt to become a playback singer and still aspire too. Initially my parents were against the idea of me entering this field. In fact I did not inform them about my Laughter Challenge’s audition but now they are very supportive. Most of the people don’t know, but Kapil Sharma recommended my name for Laughter Challenge.”
Your favourite comedians and singers? “Johnny Lever, Kapil Sharma and Paresh Rawal and in singers Lataji, Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan.”
Where do you see yourself in the next five years? “I see myself starting my own musical institute where I can teach classical singing.”
All the best Sugandha!
