MUMBAI: Renowned South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun, celebrated for his stellar performances in iconic K-dramas such as Dream High, Moon Embracing the Sun, and My Love from the Star, has recently found himself at the centre of a major controversy.
The acclaimed actor, one of the highest-paid in the South Korean entertainment industry, has been making global headlines following allegations connecting him to the tragic and mysterious demise of his ex-girlfriend, actress Kim Sae-ron.
Reports indicate that Kim Sae-ron was discovered dead at her residence under circumstances that remain unclear, with her family directly accusing Kim Soo-hyun of involvement in her passing.

Kim Soo-hyun’s Press Conference: Setting the Record Straight
In an attempt to dispel the swirling allegations, Kim Soo-hyun addressed the media in a press conference on Monday, categorically denying the accusations levelled against him.
He refuted claims of having dated Kim Sae-ron while she was a minor, asserting that their relationship only began a year and a half ago.
Furthermore, he emphasised that their romantic involvement had already ended before the controversy came to light.
Addressing past rumours, Kim Soo-hyun also revisited a previous incident when Kim Sae-ron posted a photo of them together on social media while he was working on Queen of Tears.
He admitted that he had denied their relationship at the time, justifying his stance by stating that confirming it then could have caused significant disruptions to his career, affecting the drama production, his co-stars, and his endorsement deals.
“I stand by my decision at the time,” he stated firmly. “There are many people who depend on me – my drama team, the actresses, the brands I represent. Confirming the relationship then would have led to unnecessary complications.”
Kim Soo-hyun Presents Evidence to Clear His Name
In a move to prove his innocence, the actor provided the police with substantial evidence, including screenshots of his conversations with friends and physical proof that their relationship did not begin during Kim Sae-ron’s minor years.
Additionally, he shared an audio file in which a Gold Medalist representative allegedly discussed Kim Sae-ron’s financial struggles, urging Kim Soo-hyun to speak with her about them.
He passionately expressed his frustration over the assumption that being a celebrity meant he was dishonest. “Wearing a mask in public does not mean I am hiding the truth. I should be able to call out what is wrong without my words being doubted,” he declared.
Legal Action Against Kim Sae-ron’s Family
At the conclusion of the press conference, Kim Soo-hyun revealed that he had taken legal action against Kim Sae-ron’s family, filing a defamation lawsuit amounting to $8.1 million.
His legal team took over the session, detailing their intent to pursue justice for the damage caused to the actor’s reputation.
