MUMBAI: Popular TV actor Kushal Punjabi is a fitness freak and is passionate about gymming. The actor's passion for fitness can be seen with his participation in one of the toughest races, which he recently completed it despite many obstacles.
The actor said, 'The race comprised 15 tough obstacles within five kilometers. I had to sprint, complete the obstacles, and reach the finishing line in the best time possible.'
The most amazing part is that the actor prepared for the race without a trainer. He further added, 'I learnt about the race two months before its scheduled date. I heard that people were training for it the whole year, while I had just two months. I did it without an official trainer. I just started training and took to running outdoors. A workout in a gym is done in a controlled environment, so you don’t realise the strength you need for an outdoor activity. Doing weights at a gym is purely for aesthetics and self-confidence, but outdoor activities tests your agility and grit.'
The race, however, was not that easy, and the actor suffered a major injury as his shoulder got dislocated.
'No matter how much you train, you can’t predict what’s going to happen. My left shoulder was dislocated while I was clearing one of the toughest obstacles. I continued despite the pain. But when I reached the last obstacle, I fell and my right shoulder popped out. The medics had to come to my rescue. At the end, I realised that just challenging yourself can be so liberating at times,' the actor concluded.
