MUMBAI: Sony SAB’s ‘Badall Pe Paon Hai’ captures the journey of Baani, played by Amandeep Sidhu, an ambitious young woman striving to uplift her family’s financial condition despite life's challenges. Adding a new dimension to the show’s narrative is Gaurav Sharma, who recently entered Badall Pe Paon Hai as Mahir Dhillon, a successful young advocate with strong values and warm feelings for Baani. From his on-screen bond with Baani to the experience of shooting at his hometown Chandigarh, Gaurav reveals what makes Maahir’s character stand out.

1. How is Maahir Dhillon as a character, and what drew you to portray him?
Maahir Dhillon is a young, charming, rich, and very successful advocate from Chandigarh. He has a deep love for his dadi, and he’s immediately drawn to Baani when they first meet. I love taking on challenging roles and Maahir is an idealistic, positive character, which is a big shift from my last role which was quite the opposite. This transformation was what attracted me the most.

2. What do you think makes Maahir’s character relatable or unique for viewers?
In today’s world, young, successful professionals are thoughtful and goal-oriented, often prioritizing family, health, and personal values. Maahir reflects these qualities perfectly, he’s genuine, confident, and grounded. His honesty and sense of security make him relatable, while his balanced approach to life sets him apart. He’s both accomplished and down-to-earth, which I think is what really makes him stand out to viewers.

3. What is the dynamic between your character, Maahir, and Baani, and how do you see their relationship evolving?
Maahir and Baani first meet in a professional setting, but they quickly connect due to their similar mindsets and values. Both are honest and helpful, which naturally becomes a common bonding factor between them. Now, they share a fun, emotional bond that is hard to break. Their friendship is built on respect and understanding, hence they support each other.

4. How has the experience been shooting in Chandigarh?
I absolutely love Chandigarh. I was born here, so it holds a special place in my heart. The people, the food, and the overall vibe of Punjab is just unmatched. My family moved away a while back, but I still have a few friends here. The cast of the show is amazing as well and has been very welcoming. So far, the experience has been excellent, it feels like coming home.

Q5. Can you share any memorable moments or scenes that were particularly enjoyable or challenging to shoot?
One of my favourite scenes was when Maahir explains the essence of life to Baani through an iconic moment from the Mahabharata. I’m a huge fan of mythology, so that scene was very meaningful for me and also challenging to deliver with the depth it needed.

Q6. How do you foresee Maahir’s presence affecting Rajat and Baani’s life in the upcoming story?
Even though Maahir and Baani are similar people and have mutual understanding, they’re careful to keep it within respectful boundaries. But as their friendship grows, Rajat starts to feel insecure and often misinterprets their bond, which leads to some tense situations. I think it’ll be hard on Baani as she’s not doing anything wrong, but it could create misunderstandings between her and Rajat. So, viewers will have to tune in and watch the upcoming twists and intense moments in the show to know more.
