Makers of Tarak Mehta to produce new show for Sony

The news is that Neela Telefilms, the makers of Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltaah Chashmah, is all set to make a new show, Krishnaben Khakhrawali, for Sony TV. Indira Krishnan (seen in Palkon Ki Chaaon Mein) has been cast in the title role. The show is said to have an emotional storyline but dealt with uniquely. Also new faces like Uma Gokhale, Falguni Mistry, Baldev and Anuj Nayak are part of the rest of the cast. They will play Indira’s neighbours. Says a source, “The story is about Krishnaben, who has gone through a lot in life. But despite all the ups and downs how she manages to bring up her children is the most interesting aspect. Her neighbours will support her in everything she does. We started the shoot last week. The show is slated to get a prime time slot, depending on the ratings of the current fiction shows on the channel. Sony will announce the launch date soon and it’s likely to air this month.” Indira didn’t revert back. We called up producer Asit Modi, who confirmed the news. He says, “Yes we are making a new show for Sony. The concept of the show is very different. And I hope like Tarak Mehta, even this does well too.” Ajay Balwankar, Fiction Head Sony, refused to comment on this. We caught the promo of the same and must say it holds promise.
