Seasoned actor Akhilendra Mishra will soon be back to TV after his outing as Kans in Star Plus’ Mahabharat. The actor will essay a character which is witty and positive for a change in Shashi-Sumeet Productions’ upcoming show on Star Plus, Mere Nikatthu.
The actor who has earlier portrayed negative roles like Kroor Singh in Chandrakantha, Ravan in Ramayan, and the role of a naxalite in Shashi-Sumeet’s Diya Aur Baati Hum was in fact looking for a role on TV which will be different.
Talking about his role in the upcoming show, Akhilendra said, “Yes, I will be part of Mere Nikatthu. I have earlier worked with the producers for Diya Aur Baati Hum, and they wanted me to take up this longer part. I have played a lot of negative and wicked characters both in TV and films. I wanted to do something on a lighter note this time around. And this role of the male lead’s father in the upcoming show simply suits the bill.”
Mere Nikatthu is loosely based on the Govinda-Karishma Kapoor starrer Raja Babu. For the father essayed by Akhilendra, his son is always a ‘Nikathhu’, but he would be an ace to the ouside world.
Further elaborating on the genre of the show, the actor stated, “Mere Nikatthu will have situational comedy. My character will be a person who can tickle all the funny bones in you when on screen.”
The show has Priyanshu Jora and Shivani Tomar in lead roles. The role of Akhilendra’s wife will be played by Amita Khopkar.
