Mona Singh who created waves with Jassi and Jhalak is back on television with a new show called Naya Roop Nayi Zindagi on Sony. The show gives a chance to individuals for a complete transformation. It is based on the popular US show Extreme makeover where ordinary men and women undergo "extreme makeovers" involving plastic surgery, exercise regimes, hairdressing and wardrobes. It will present people with real problems, problems that kept them away from facing the world, unfulfilled dreams and desires and finally how they achieved their ambitions and found their dreams coming true. Mona Singh has been roped in to host the show. “I took up the show because this is something different. I think something like this show has never happened in television as yet,” says Mona. Each episode opens with the person and his/her case history and how the entire process will happen. After the surgery what follows is the recovery process which in some cases has been several months. The viewer in each episode will witness the agony and ecstasy of the participant and the final victory. Sharing experiences in the show, Mona explains, “The best part of NRNZ is that it doesn’t take a single penny and is helping people to solve their problems. I took up this show due to its strong serving concept.” “It was a challenging project for me and an emotional journey through out the show. We had difficult cases and I had to confront them. I’m needed to be calm and positive for the people in the show which is not an easy job to do,” she adds. How you are benefiting from the show? “It gives me satisfaction and that is why it is worth hosting this serial. It feels good that people are able to help themselves through the show and I get blessings from them,” she avers. Do you think that people will accept you in this avatar? “I don’t think it should be difficult for my audience to recognise me. I don’t want them to forget me as Jassi but in this show they’ll see me as Mona,” she chirps. When can we see you in a fiction show? “Well I’m looking out for a show but there is nothing exciting. I’ve always given audiences something different and even this time I want an unusual kind of role. I can’t do saas-bahu sagas,” she concludes. Well we hope this show also gives Mona a Nayi Zindagi!
