MUMBAI: This Mother’s Day, Sony SAB artists come together to pay tribute to the two most cherished maternal figures in their lives—their real-life mothers and the on-screen moms who, over time, have become like family. Actors such as Deshna Dugad, Darshan Gurjar, Chinmayee Salvi, and Krishna Bharadwaj open up about the unconditional love, unwavering support, and constant inspiration they receive from both these incredible women. From cherished off-screen memories to the nurturing relationships built on set, these stars reflect on how both bonds have deeply shaped their personal lives and professional journeys.
Darshan Gurjar, who portrays the character of Chirag in Pushpa Impossible, said, "Mothers are truly the heartbeat of our lives, and I feel incredibly blessed to have not one, but two beautiful souls I call ‘maa’. My mom, Leena Gurjar, has been my strongest pillar, my quiet strength, and my biggest cheerleader. Whatever I am today is because of her sacrifices—whether it was moving to a new city for my career, her prayers, or her never-ending belief in me. She has done it all. And then there’s Pushpa—my reel mother in Pushpa Impossible, portrayed so wonderfully by Karuna Pandey ma’am. I will never forget how she was there for me in unexpected ways, even when I was fighting for my life in the ICU. Her care and support during those critical moments have left an indelible mark on my heart. I thank you both of them for being my guiding light and for showing me that true strength and compassion know no bounds. Happy Mother’s Day.”
Deshna Dugad, who portrays the character of Rashi in Pushpa Impossible, said, "On this Mother’s Day, I celebrate the two incredible women who have shaped my journey in so many profound ways. Playing Rashi has given me a deeper understanding of a mother-daughter relationship. On screen, watching and working with Karuna Pandey Ma’am, who brings Pushpa to life in Pushpa Impossible, has been such a learning experience. From supporting me in scenes to helping me grow as an actor and boosting my confidence, she’s been more than just a co-actor; she’s someone I truly admire for her sincerity and her natural, heartfelt portrayal of motherhood. In real life, my own mom, Smita Dugad, is my everything—my best friend, my guide, and my strongest support system. She has stood by me through every audition, every tough day, every big moment with quiet strength and unwavering encouragement. Whether it was traveling long distances for my shoots or comforting me when I felt overwhelmed, she has always put me first without a second thought. Her presence in my life is a blessing I can never fully express in words. I’m really lucky to have two strong, inspiring mother figures in my life—both of them always encourage me to give my best, and that means the world to me."
Chinmayee Salvi, who plays the role of Sakhi Wagle in Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey, said, "Pariva di isn’t just my on-screen mom, she’s my buddy on set! We share the same vanity room, and honestly, we’re always joined at the hip. Working with her has been a truly special experience. She brings such warmth and joy to the set that it's impossible not to feel a genuine bond. Off-screen, she’s like a guiding force for me, always calm, encouraging, and full of positivity. Watching her dedication and grace inspires me every day to grow not just as an actor but as a person."
Krishna Bharadwaj, who plays the role of Tenali in Tenali Rama, said, “Most of us actors in the industry come from different cities and live alone, away from our families, so forming special bonds on set becomes important. I have built a strong connection with the actress who plays my mother. in the show, Nimisha Vakharia, and the bond we share is truly like that of a real mother and son. I've been calling her 'Amma' since the first season, and she guides me in many ways, just like my mom would. I often relive moments of my childhood through her. One of the most special memories for me was when my real mom visited the set and bonded beautifully with Amma—it was heartwarming to see both my real and reel-life mothers together."
Tune in to watch Pushpa Impossible, Tenali Rama, and Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey only on Sony SAB every Monday to Saturday
