"Movers and Shakers 2 would have worked had it aired on some other channel than SAB TV," avers Shekhar Suman

Shekhar Suman, the host of Movers and Shakers season one and two that was telecast on Sony Entertainment Television and SAB TV respectively talks about his show going off air today. “The show is going off air today (22 June) and it went on for 90 episodes. It went off well; it’s not all of a sudden that it is going off air. I was always kept in the loop about the happenings. We did get a good response for the show. Though it was not as expected, but still it got a decent TRP much better than many dailies,” shared Shekhar with Tellychakar.com. .

Though it was not as expected, but still it got a decent TRP much better than many dailies,” shared Shekhar with Tellychakar.com. . “Yes, there are many reasons why it did not click. Primarily, I think the audience was not happy as the timings kept on changing. Audiences, at times, were unaware about the timing still the TRPs were decent enough. Talking about what went wrong, the concept of the show did not match with the DNA of the channel. The show would have done better had it aired on any other channel instead of SAB. The talk show is a political satire and Sony would have been a better option but we tried experimenting it on SAB TV,” he added. “There were issues as well. When I tried calling Anna Hazare, the production house refused and they wanted television actors. And the audience doesn’t want to see television actors they want more of politicians and film actors. As television actors are just faces that viewers see every day. The audience wants to know movie stars more personally and that’s the reason why this edition of Movers and Shakers did not live up. Still it did very well. Had it done far better, we would have gone for an extension”, Shekhar observed. “I don’t interfere with the decision of the channel and production houses as this looks unprofessional and abide by whatever they say. At the end, it’s their money. I would like to thank the channel’s EVP and business head Anooj Kapoor for helping and supporting and trying his bit till the last to make this show popular.” But everything was not that bad in the season. As Shekhar recounted, “We did have some wonderful interviews with Shaan, Veena Malik, Anupam Kher and many more. My last episode will be memorable wherein I will be interviewing my son Adhyayan Suman. It’s the first time that I will be interviewing my son; it will be an emotional moment and quite touchy too.” On the close, he said, “I am an actor. When I act, I give my 200 per cent and when the show ends I move on. I can’t keep on holding it forever. I do have my movie to produce and some films and will inform you when I will take them up.”
