MUMBAI: Sushant Divgikar wears many hats. He is a model, actor, singer, columnist, psychologist, motivational speaker, drag queen, pageant director, and video jockey. He participated in the television reality show Bigg Boss 8. Sushant, in the drag queen avatar Rani Ko-HE-Nur, created history by becoming the first drag queen in India to participate in a singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in the year 2018.
In January 2021, he came out as genderfluid via an Instagram post, stating his preferred pronouns are "he," "she," and "they."
He spoke about his journey on Maniesh Paul’s podcast. Ahead of it going on-air, the Smart Jodi anchor shared a promo video on his social media handles wherein Sushant is seen talking about his parents’ support and acceptance of him being a trans person.
In the video, Sushant gets candid about how he learnt that he is transgender. He further talks about realising the same and coming out about it to his parents, who have been supportive throughout. He also calls it an ‘emotional’ journey. However, the part where he shares about his mother’s gratefulness to have found a daughter as well as a son child in one has won everyone’s hearts.
As Sushant talks about his journey as a transgender, he shares that his mother always says, “I’m so lucky, I have a son and a daughter in the same child.” After hearing this, host Maniesh Paul joins his hands and thanks her for showing that love, support and understanding for Sushant and the community. In continuation, Sushant also speaks about coming out to his father too. He further shares how his parents’ support has made him stronger.
Have a look.
