Divyanka and Vivek homecoming plans

MUMBAI: Back again home to his parents in Chandigarh last week, Vivek Dahiya says he took a break from Mumbai because, “I got bored alone without Divyanka who was in Cape Town for the show, Khatron Ke Khiladi.” Shortly after his trip here, his wife Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya came back to Mumbai, just in time for the couple’s fifth wedding anniversary.

Responding to whether the decision of Divyanka to travel to Cape Town when the second COVID wave was raging, scared them, Vivek quoted, “Yes, the thought was scary especially because at that time the second wave was pretty bad in India.” He adds, “But, we spoke to the channel and did our research about safety preparedness for the participants while travelling and in Cape Town, and were reassured.”

Vivek kept up with the daily updates in Divyanka’s life there through phone calls. “My day in Mumbai would sound very boring compared to her,” he laughs, adding, “Now she is back and is in quarantine, and we are catching up. She has come a long way, and I am proud of her. The idea of her going to the show was not to win, but to collect experiences, which a routine life can never bring.”

Though COVID cases have reduced comparatively, Vivek still doesn’t go to crowded places. “With vaccines in place, people are slowly getting a little confident about the pandemic situation. However, the moment lockdown lifts, it becomes a mela outside. So, I still avoid public places as much as possible,” he says, “But yes, everyone has had ample break now since last one year. I don’t think anyone is going to complain about not getting time off for a long time to come!”

Though Vivek, a fitness enthusiast, has not returned to the gym yet, he actively continues to post videos of working out and eating healthy food.

“In the second wave, I followed the same routine as I did in the first. Divyanka and I stayed home, and I worked out from home. Working out and eating clean is lifestyle now and I have been doing it for a long time. I don’t eat very clean but maintain a balance because I want to live my life and not be on a diet. But I know my body type, so I work it off too,” he adds.
