My ajeeb dastaan

<strong>A page from the personal diary of Prachi Desai</strong>
A page from the personal diary of Prachi Desai I t's been quite a while since Rock On released and became a blockbuster. There are so many memories -- mostly fond -- associated with the film, guess it will take me years to write everything. This being my first film, the memories are even more special. But there are some incidents which are etched in my memory deeply and will remain like that forever. Whenever I get some free time, I keep on thinking about them. The other day I was remembering how I was made to sing a song for the film. Few people know that I have sung a song in the movie. While the shooting was going on, Abhishek Kapoor (the director of the film) called me one day and asked for a meeting. I said fine and asked him where he would like to meet me. Without saying anything about the purpose of the meeting, he gave me the address of the venue. I also did not question him much because I thought it would be one of the numerous briefing sessions we had during the making of the film. I got ready immediately and went to the address which Abhishek gave me. To my surprise I found that the address was that of a recording studio. Not sure of what to do, I called Abhishek to confirm whether I had reached the right place. He replied in affirmative and asked me to come in. I went inside, having no clue of why he wanted to meet at a recording studio. Even after I entered the studio, I thought it would be a script reading session and they had hired a recording studio for the same. Only after I met Abhishek , did he break the news -- "You have to sing a song now!" I was dumbfounded because this was something completely unexpected. I thought he was cracking a joke, but only after he put the headphones on me and the track started playing, did I realise that he was serious! I was wondering how to go about it because I am a bathroom singer and have never really sung in a studio or a public function. I was caught completely unawares and was so scared that I could hardly speak. Then he started encouraging me and explained that it was not so difficult and since I was a decent singer, I could manage. I had to go through a few rehearsals and a couple of re-takes, but after that Ajeeb Dastaan(the song I sang) turned out to be good. I was quite happy at the final result. Everyone else praised me too.
