My first steps in Mumbai...

A page from the personal diary of Pankaj Singh Tiwari One of my favourite pass-time is to look back and think of how everything started and how I landed in Mumbai. I consider myself very lucky on a number of counts. Since my Dad had a transferable job I have travelled all over the country. I’m basically from Madhya Pradesh. Being to so many places has taught me a lot.

I consider myself very lucky on a number of counts. Since my Dad had a transferable job I have travelled all over the country. I’m basically from Madhya Pradesh. Being to so many places has taught me a lot. Though I had this interest in acting, I never really thought it could become my profession. After my schooling, I went on to study engineering and completed my degree. Only after I started working did I realise that this is was not what I was meant for. I wanted to do something creative. This urge brought me to Mumbai and I joined an acting school. Luckily, within three months I started getting offers for modelling in ads. I was trying to get my foothold in the ad world and also looking at options when I got a call from a production house. They had seen me in a commercial for a cell phone and liked my performance and thus were inviting me to participate in an audition for the main lead of their new show. Again I proved to be lucky. The production house was the famed Hats Off, the serial was Shree and the person auditioning me was J. D. Majethia. I got selected! It's been a great journey since then. We have finished 50 episodes of our show few weeks back and I am very excited about the future. This is the first time Hats Off is moving into the supernatural genre and despite long shifts I am enjoying my work a lot. I hope the good times continue!
