MUMBAI: Zee TV has been a pioneer and a trend-setter in shaping television content over the past three decades and once again, it seems to be changing the face of music reality shows with its latest non-fiction property, the Indian Pro Music League (IPML). In a clutter-breaking format innovation, Zee TV launched the world’s first-ever music league championship on February 26th, 2021. While the world of sports has seen several league competitions, this unique music league has six teams representing different regions of India, battling it out against each other in a musical championship. Each of these six teams supported by leading Bollywood and sports celebrities has top playback singers as their captains, one reality show star, and one fresh voice. Celebrated singers - Mika Singh, Kailash Kher, Sajid Khan, Shaan, Ankit Tiwari, Javed Ali, Asees Kaur, Bhoomi Trivedi, Akriti Kakar, Payal Dev, Neha Bhasin, Shilpa Rao are captains of these six zonal teams.
After the epic grand premiere, the six teams are ready to battle it out and the first set of league matches have kicked off. In the upcoming episode, we will see Gujarat Rockers battle it out against Mumbai Warriors and during the shoot of this particular episode, Mumbai Warriors captain Shilpa Rao was applauded for her fantastic performance to her popular chartbuster ‘Bulleya’. But after that, the ace singer went on to reveal how her version of Bulleya for Ranbir Kapoor’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil took one and a half years to get approved.
As captain of Mumbai Warriors Shilpa Rao revealed on Indian Pro Music League, “It took us one and half years to make Bulleya and get it approved. From the start to the end, it was a journey that needed a lot of patience. People think it is easy, get into a recording studio and you’re done after you’ve recorded. No, it isn’t that simple. This was not an easy song and I had to record it three or four times and we had to wait for a year and half before it was approved. However, having said that, I think it was worth all the wait and after performing it today and seeing the audience cheer, I feel it was all worth it.”
Mumbai Warriors co-captain Kailash Kher also jumped in and added, “What Shilpa is saying is true, sometimes you record a song, and it takes a lot of time for it to make it to a movie. It happens a lot, I have a huge bank of songs too. But Bulleya was a great track and Shilpa has put her heart and soul into it, and you could see it in today’s performance.”
While Shilpa Rao’s surprising revelation would have left you stunned, wait till you see her perform Bulleya in three different styles! After getting challenged by Karan Wahi, Shilpa sang a Gujarati, Reggae and a melancholic version of the popular song that left everyone mesmerised. On Saturday, 6th March, viewers will be in for an exciting super match between Mumbai Warriors and the Gujarat Rockers!
