Sumona Chakravarti
If we were to fairly ascertain as to how we have changed over the years, many of us may find that we have gone through a sea change. When writers create fictional roles, an interesting character is one who goes through a character arc. When the show starts she may start off with certain viewpoints, qualities and flaws. As years pass by the character may totally change in the way she perceives life, may imbibe new qualities and rectify her shortcomings. Natasha Kapoor (Sumona Chakravarti) in Sony Entertainment Television’s Bade Achhe Lagte Hain in fact has undergone a 180 degrees change since the inception of the show. Indeed the writer has etched out her character beautifully and the pretty actress has executed the same with élan. Talking about her character, Sumona says, “Indeed Natasha has undergone an entire turn around. Her change didn’t happen overnight. This is very realistic as the same happens to many people in real life. She was about 22 when the show started. Now she is around 28. She has grown very responsible and has matured. It has been a lovely journey to play Natasha.” Natasha who had grey shades is now a very likeable character on the show. Now she has evolved into a very lovable figure. What does Sumona like the best about Natasha? She replies, “I like the fact that be it her personal or professional life, Natasha puts in her one hundred percent best efforts. Yes, she has made mistakes in the past but has also learnt from them. She may have once had a wild life but she regrets that now.” Natasha who loves children can’t have a biological child. There are viewers who feel sorry for her. Does Sumona feel the same? She replies, “Nowadays medical technology has advanced- so she may have options to have a biological child. Also she may adopt a child if she wishes to. As of now she loves the two kids in her family- Pihu and Kush and a third child is also on the way.” Regarding the scenes in which Natasha has altercations with Ayesha Kapoor (Akanksha Juneja), Sumona points out that she has a jolly good time shooting them. “Akanksha and I have a good rapport. After the scene has been shot we burst into laughter.” When Sumona isn’t acting she reads, swims and listens to music. Her music tastes differ with her moods. “I like different kinds of music at different times- be it Coke Studio, Jagjit Singh, songs from old films, electro dance music etc.” How does she think the TV industry should improve? “Things need to be far organised and disciplined. There should be complete transparency as far as contracts are concerned. We have a long way to go.” We wish this pretty lady all the best in her endeavours!!!
