Seems Amitabh Bachchan's star designers, Shantanu and Nikhil, have decided to stick to their guns and not let any of the criticism around the Big B's new KBC Dwitiya look get to them.
"Star Plus had given us the brief - "From Royal to Rockstar." We did the 'Royal' part in KBC and are looking at the latter in KBC2. Mr Bachchan has been a style icon for 35 years and he knows exactly what he wants to wear. He is a great stylist in his own right and I give him freedom to make a choice in what he wants to wear," says Nikhil.

The duo seems to have taken the recent media criticism in good humour. "See, our clothes were noticed and that is more important. I would rather people say that our creations are good or bad…I'll be very disappointed if they said the clothes were ok…that will make me sad," points out Nikhil with a laugh.
This "Love me, hate me, but can't ignore me" attitude makes the duo a winning pair as they continue to stick to their plans of making AB look like a rockstar. "No change of plans as far as we are concerned. We had planned that the first schedule will have the Big B as a rockstar and then we are going to see him in classics - pin stripes, suites with ties with minute stitching details, while still retaining the youthfulness of Mr Bachchan," adds Nikhil, with a mischievous note in his voice that tells us that he might just have a surprise in store for us in the coming schedules.
The duo will be back in the city next month to design the next set of clothes for the show and they seem very excited about it. Come October, they will be off to South California to be part of the Disco Fashion Week.
What the designers are looking at in the second season of KBC2 is lots of spice, with loads of variation. Criticisms not withstanding, the duo are still looking at giving the icon leather jackets! And why not -- with the ratings that the show is currently getting, one thing they can be sure of is that their clothes will be the cynosure of all eyes!
