MUMBAI: &TV’s Daroga Happu Singh’s oil-slicked hair and paan-stained grin have been entertaining the audience along with his paltan for over a year now. He has not only become a household name but has also etched a special place in the audience’s heart especially for his catchphrase ‘niyocchavar kar do’, and for his distinctive behaviour of chewing paans. Reminiscing one such instance, Yogesh shares a funny episode when he had to have six pans for a scene.
Owing to the lockdown scenario, Yogesh has been spending quality time with his family at home. However, our very own Happu is missing his on-screen family, his time on sets and shoots. Recollecting one of such instances, he shares, “We were shooting a fun sequence between Happu, the kids and Benny. While enacting the scene, I kept giggling between the shots because of which we had to reshoot it, and I ended up having six paans in a go to complete the scene. At the end of the shot, I was so full that I couldn’t eat anything for the rest of the day. It was such a Paan-full day! (laughs).

Adding further, “I believe an actor’s role is not just to deliver dialogues but also to capture the real emotions and expressions, to bring alive the real character. In Happu’s character, chewing paans while talking is his characteristic behaviour which the audience loves. It requires practice as sometimes the speech may not be that clear while chewing. By now, I have mastered this art. I am grateful to all my fans and audience for their continued love and support to Happu Singh, and I look forward to bring more such smiles and laughter once we resume the shoot, post the lockdown.”
Tune in to the double dhamaka of Happu Ki Ultan Paltan every Monday – Friday at 9:00 pm only on &TV
