Pearl Grey: Pratigya was always about women empowerment, each time Pratigya stands up for herself, she stands up for all women

MUMBAI: Pearl Grey believes in putting the focus on issues, stories and characters that are real and relatable, but many a times overlooked. The reason why, she feels, her shows usually end up raising many eyebrows sometimes for good, sometimes otherwise, but in most cases it has been able to make an impact on the audience.

The writer-creative producer-showrunner, who has been behind shows such as Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya, Rishton Se Badi Pratha, Doli Armaano Ki, Silsila Badalte Rishton ka and Udaan, is looking forward to the reaction around her latest venture, season two of Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya. “Pratigya 1 was a trend setter then (the show is coming back with season 2 after nine  years) with the kind of characters we introduced to Indian television and the protagonist, who gave voice to so many women. Similarly, with Pratigya 2 we are bringing something new and hopefully it will set a trend this time too with the unique story-telling, edge-of-the-seat thrill and drama, with of course relatable emotions,” she says.

And with International Women’s Day today, Grey feels in today’s time we need to talk more about women’s rights and empowerment. Her show Pratigya actually highlights these two aspects. “Pratigya was always about women empowerment. Each time Pratigya stands up for herself, she stands up for all women. In the show you will see how in these nine years she has empowered the women of the house and what is she going to do next… I am excited, confident and nervous too. I just hope the viewers will enjoy and be a part of Pratigya’s ride this time too,” she adds.

Meanwhile, she is also working on her other projects. Isn’t juggling being a writer, creative producer and show runner difficult? How does she manage?  “Nothing is easy… I just love donning all these hats. The only secret to successful multitasking is passion and prioritization. If you are passionate about a couple of things then you will make sure you prioritize to achieve the end result. I love my work, I love my stories, my characters. I live them with my writing and as a creative producer and show runner I get an opportunity to see my writing translate into life,” she sounds content.
