MUMBAI : Sushant Singh Rajput's death sparked the nepotism debate once again. Everyone has a different opinion on this, but yes, most of the people agree that it's not right to target a particular industry. Actor Aniruddh Dave feels that nepotism exists everywhere, in every field and profession, and it is very wrong to target just one particular industry.
"I feel nepotism is a hashtag everyone has an expertise at. It exists everywhere, it's even in the corporate world. A doctor's son becomes a doctor, a lawyer's son becomes a lawyer, everyone wants their upcoming generation to follow their legacy. I don't know why only Bollywood is being targeted. I feel to work in this industry, you need to be talented, you need to be lucky and you also need to understand the craft. Even if you are a famous actor's son or daughter, if you don't have that talent, you will not get more work," he said.
"They might get a launch because of their parents, but that's it, it will only be a launch if you don't have a talent. People need to understand this industry works on skills, if you are not skilled you will not get any work. Moreover, if you come from a family of musicians, the upcoming generations will also choose the same field, because its somewhere in their genes too. I feel like everything that's over hyped in the country, even nepotism is being exaggerated. This is the bitter truth. The thumb rule of the industry is to keep working and keep getting better, and I will keep doing it," he added.
The "Patiala Babes" actor also spoke about favouritism in the TV industry and says he doesn't agree that it works like that and emphasised that an actor gets a particular role only if he fits in.
"I have worked on various projects with Swastik Productions. I think it all depends on the craft and performance of an actor. Even if a production house likes your work, you will be cast only if you fit a particular character. Many a time I have refused to portray some roles because I feel I won't fit in. I think actors should themselves decide what roles they fit in. So I don't think favouritism exists in the TV industry," Aniruddh said.

Asked if he is apprehensive about going back to work because of the current COVID scenario, the "Raajkumar Aaryyan" actor said, "Not really, because I think you will have to just live with this pandemic now. Be it now or after three-four months, we will have to just go hand-in-hand with this pandemic because this situation will continue."
"Now the only option we have is to follow the safety measures. Undoubtedly, there is fear among the people because it can happen to anyone. But, I am not apprehensive about it and it's not like that I won't step out because of COVID," Aniruddh signed off.
