Post Friends Reunion, there should be a Hip Hip Hurray Reunion too: Anupamaa actors Mehul Nisar and Rushad Rana

Friends reunion has only launched and the show has brought back all those happy memories with it.

MUMBAI: Friends reunion has only launched and the show has brought back all those happy memories with it.

The audience cannot get over the feel of the moments of friends and the show is creating nostalgia. The reunion has showcased how after such a long duration, the 6 characters have come back and are recalling all the moments. It was one of the most popular shows back then and it is still being viewed multiple times now. Talking about Indian television, Hip Hip Hurray was one such show from the 90’s era and was about younghood and friendship. The story is based on the lives of 12th-grade students at the DeNobili High School and their adventures, their fears and hopes, and their relationships and interactions. Besides that, the story also focuses on issues pertinent to the younger generation such as dating, drugs, careers, health, exams, and causes, in a light-hearted manner. The first season of the series more focused on the stars where they were in school flitting through life with joys and sorrows of life as students. It contained 80 episodes.

The show was one of the most popular dramas from the 90’s era and was a base for a lot of new actors for which the show became their claim to fame. A lot of actors in the likes of Mehul Nisar, Purab Kohli, Kishwer Merchantt, Rushad Rana and others were seen in the show and it is commendable how they performed.

Just like the Friends Reunion, some actors of the cast are of the opinion that if one show had to make a comeback, it has to be Hip Hip Hurray. Actor Mehul Nisar and Rushad Rana shared a lot of memories associated with the show too.

In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar.com, Mehul shared, “After watching Friends Reunion, we had a lot of nostalgia and we are in touch with each other on a WhatsApp group. We felt that there should be a reunion of Hip Hip Hurray too and we thought we’d ask our director to do something about it too. Most of us started our careers with Hip Hip Hurray and it has been 23 years now. We are fortunate to have been a part of the show and it feels nice when people still know you by your screen name until date. We had a lot of fun shooting the show and we were a young bunch of people who would vibe together. When there is a big team there is a sense of insecurity that you would not be seen but that was not the cast on Hip Hip Hurray.

I have been very close to Rushad Rana from the show and we have been in touch with each other. Infact, even now we are shooting for the same show, Anupamaa. Though we are not shooting together we are doing the same project. “

Speaking to Rushad Rana, he shared, “Hip Hip Hurray is the most golden period of my life. I made some friends for life and I often tell people that the show was like an acting school for me. I have not gone to any acting school but the way we have been trained for the show and the acting workshop was very organic. The way the show was shot was very beautiful and we had the freedom to experiment. This made a very strong grounding for us. Work wise also Hip Hip Hurray is a very strong landmark for me. With regards to friendships, we still have that camaraderie and we are connected with each other.

I have been getting a feedback on my social media for the reunion of Hip Hip Hurray and when I discussed on group, a lot of people seemed kicked about this. A lot of people are now located in different places now as there are some who have married off and settled elsewhere so I don’t know how far it is going to be practically possible. But I feel that if they can be brought together, there will be a wonderful response and I feel that it should not be a reunion episode but an entire series like Hip Hip Hurray Returns. A script could be written of what happened to the characters after college.”

Way to go Mehul! (Also Read: FABULOUS! Did you know THIS cricketer’s wife acted in three Harry Potter films?)
