MUMBAI: Prabhneet Singh is all set to captivate audiences with his portrayal of CCD in the new series Swipe Crime on Amazon MX Player. The show, which revolves around dating apps and social media, tackles the growing issue of cybercrime and online fraud. Prabhneet’s character CCD is an innocent yet underconfident man from a large joint family, whose relatability is bound to resonate with viewers.
When asked about the title of the show, Prabhneet shared his initial reaction: "I thought it was going to be a pure crime thriller, but as we began shooting, I realized it’s about so much more than that." He highlighted how the series brings attention to the rising use of dating apps and the consequences of fake profiles and cybercrimes. In today’s digital age, Prabhneet feels the series is extremely relevant, shedding light on the dangers lurking on social media platforms.
Prabhneet believes the show will not only entertain but also educate viewers on the negative impacts of these apps. "In Swipe Crime, we explore how people are controlled by these apps. It’s a wake-up call for today’s generation," he explains. His character CCD, who stays in the background but aspires to do something meaningful, is someone who many will relate to. Prabhneet adds, “Most people are like CCD—they may feel underconfident but still have dreams and goals.”
On a personal note, Prabhneet shared his own experiences with social media and how it has influenced his life and career. "Social media has had a huge impact on me as an artist," he says. "It’s a tool that connects us to casting agents and fans alike." However, he also acknowledges the dark side of social media, where engagement and follower counts often determine an actor’s success.
