Preeti Puri whose claim to fame has been Zee TV's Mamta where she essays a dark character (Tanisha) is gung ho about her first new comedy play Aa Phasa
Phasa which will be staged in September in Dubai followed by Mumbai. The Mumbai based actor will play a high society prostitute (Menaka) in the two hour play opposite Nasir.
"It's a play based on the corporate sector and I play Menaka who tries to find a client in the office and has her eyes on the boss. The misunderstandings generate humour in the play," chirps Preeti who is nervous as well as excited at the prospect of debuting in theatre. Preeti will don a modern look in the play and has so far had the first reading of her play.
Preeti is also excited about her new film Utthan which is a Kumar Sanu Production wherein she plays the second lead opposite Priyanshu Chatterji and will have a September release.
"I play Neha, a very Indian character and she is the Chief Minister's daughter who is a Kathak dancer. The reason I took up this offer is because it's a very nice and positive role," says the pretty actor who has refused many movie offers in the past. "I am very shy of roles which require intimate scenes and require me to wear skimpy clothes."
Viewers might recall that the actor has also done a few Balaji shows. Apart from doing some bit roles in Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahiin To Hoga, Preeti had also essayed a meaty role in Ekta's Kehna Hai Kuch on Sony but somehow the show failed to rake in the TRPs. Recently, the actor has done a cameo in 36 China Town as well.
Preeti is now keen on taking up positive roles after having played negative roles in the past and has been learning Kathak for the past three months.
Here's wishing the actor all the best and hope she is able to break the negative mould soon.
