MUMBAI: The goregous Yuvika Chaudhary, who was undergoing treatment for dengue for the last 8 days, was finally discharged from the hospital in Chandigarh today (October 23). The actress and her husband Prince Narula were also tested Covid positive before that. Remembering those days, the actress said: "It doesn't get worse than this. Kisiko bhi aisa kabhi na ho jo hamare saath hua hai, kuch dinno see."
Prince Narula, who faced a similar situation, is also back home.
Yuvika recalled, "I can't forget that night when the doctor called Prince in the middle of the night and asked him to arrange 3 units (pools) of blood platelets. Prince had to run and he brought in 20 friends and relatives to test if their blood groups matched with mine. 5 of them were found to have the same group. One unit transfusion took nearly 5 hours."
Yuvika's blood is O+ which is the most in short supply at times owing to its high demand. "The hospital cannot be blamed. The scenes in the corridor would make anyone's heart sink. In today's times of COVID-19, the hospital was full and everyone was very tense. There was a scramble for literally everything."
Their miseries multiplied when Prince also was infected with the same disease. Prince tells that it all began when his nephew got diagnosed with dengue when he went out of the house and returned with high fever. "Then Yuvika, my mother, father and sister and I all got it. This dengue was a far more terrible time than what Yuvika and I underwent in COVID-19."
Yuvika recalled days when she could not retain any food. "I was vomiting profusely and had a bad stomach as well. I was running 104 degree fever. My blood pressure dropped so low that I couldn't walk when they tried to make me get up from the bed."
Talking about COVID-19, for which they had tested positive few days prior to the dengue ordeal, Yuvika said, "Despite the fact that Prince and I had quarantined ourselves very well and even tested negative on COVID-19 after few days, we were yet hit by dengue. I guess, our immunity levels had gone terribly down in our post-COVID-19 period."
