MUMBAI: A few days ago, Priya Bathija's failed marriage with DJ Kawaljeet was in the news. The couple is now headed for a divorce.
Priya spoke to a leading publication and said that it’s unfortunate that she needed to speak about this. This was Priya's second marriage. She had lost faith in love marriages, and that's why she agreed for an arranged match. She even put her career on pause and spent some time in Raipur.
After marriage, she moved to Raipur to stay with her husband and his parents, but her husband wanted to settle down in Mumbai. Subsequently, she made every effort to help her husband in his career, but he never treated their relationship as a serious one.
Priya doesn’t want to give any details about how the marriage went kaput, but she did say that it was a case of domestic violence.
She wishes him the best in life and feels that is is unfortunate that things had to end this way. She signed the papers by mutual consent, as her dad just wanted it to end. She hoped to forgive Kawal, who married her under false pretexts and hid vital information about his life from her.
Despite that, she didn’t receive any respect she deserved and was only subjected to physical and emotional trauma, the proof of which can be found in the medical bill and the police complaint filed by her.
'At this point, to go further into any more detail will only question my dignity, and I choose to move on and not dwell into my past. I am grateful to be doing great work currently (now seen prominently in Ekta Kapoor's Daayan) and promise my fans they will be seeing a lot more of me in times to come,' Priya signed off.
